Since Afghanistan has achieved stability and security, the fleeing opponents have abandoned the country’s scene of blood and tears and embarked on their final journey to other countries, hoping that what they left behind in their homeland in terms of war and destruction, and the taste they inflicted on the nation, would not befall them and their families, and that they would be safe from these pains and sufferings, as they say.

What made the opponents appear to be the winners of the country’s civil war was precisely this; they could use Afghanistan as a hub for trial and error, amass wealth for a rainy day, and seek refuge and safety in another corner of the world or a foreign land whenever their stability was threatened. But they never, or at least less often, consider that they might be attacked and assassinated in their host countries, and that as a result of their own incompetence and lack of capacity, they might draw knives and swords on each other and take up arms and guns.

The factors that led to Ikramuddin Saree’s sacrifice and the taking of his life in a foreign country must be sought within the highly contentious and tense circles of opposition groups; circles that exploited differences against each other and for their own whitewashing. Smaller, peripheral circles of opponents believed they were no longer trapped by their leaders’ bondage and could say whatever they wanted, revealing each other’s hidden secrets. However, they had forgotten that the fugitive opponents, especially their leaders, had spent their lives in killing, looting, and fratricide, had become seasoned in these games, and could still silence the talkative and truth-telling, even now that they were resting in the arms of other countries.

Beyond all of this, the recent incident in which a former general was assassinated further revealed the fact that the opposition never thinks of anything but their own interests and those who have been by their side and worked with them for years are eliminated from the scene with the slightest dissent; a truth that became more evident to the nation than ever before and the veil fell from its face.

This event and other incidents that the nation hears about thru the media, from the mouths of fugitive opponents against each other, have more than ever convinced the people of Afghanistan of the incompetence and inefficiency of the power brokers in the past, and have highlighted their shortcomings and wickedness. No matter how much they try to portray themselves as honest and trustworthy with deception and whitewashing, the stain of disgrace on their garments will not be erased, and its darkness will not disappear.

These were the people who held the reins of power for twenty years, turning Afghanistan into a battlefield and considering themselves all-powerful. Yet, the result of their work was nothing but the destruction and devastation of the country, the sorrow and suffering of the nation, and the backwardness and misery of the homeland.

This has caused one of the opponents’ insiders to speak out, complain about their companions, and point the finger of criticism at them. Fahim Fitrat, a parliamentary advisor during the republic and one of the supporters of the resistance fighters, has followed in the footsteps of Saree and, like him, criticizes his elders, strongly condemning their divisive and incompetent processes as utterly unproductive.

What he says today was already clear and evident to the suffering people of Afghanistan before, and in fact, it is not a new point that has now been revealed. From internal division and discord to personal gain and self-preference, all of these have been and still are prominent characteristics of opponents. They are still at odds over these issues and enter thru the gate of tension. Behind all these events, what this nation has gained is an increasing awareness of the inefficiency of the opposition in every matter related to this country, and that’s all.
