The Associated Press reported that the four-day ceasefire between the Syrian government and Kurdish forces ended last night, but both sides have agreed to extend it for another 15 days.
Over the past two weeks, under the leadership of Ahmad al-Sharaa, the Syrian central government captured key northern and eastern areas from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces—territories that had been under Kurdish control for several years.
The Syrian government sought to seize the remaining Kurdish-held areas, but Ahmad al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire, giving the Kurds a deadline until Saturday night to surrender and join the national army.
Although the deadline has passed, the Kurdish forces have not yet issued an official response, stating that negotiations with the central government are still ongoing.
