
Reuters reported that a powerful winter storm and extreme cold have claimed the lives of at least 30 people across the United States.
According to the report, the fatalities were recorded in the states of Texas, Mississippi, and New York.
Prolonged freezing temperatures and successive storms have left over one million Americans without power, while more than 150 million others are threatened by severe weather.
The U.S. National Weather Service said that snowfall in some parts of the country has reached as much as 64 centimeters.
