RT Arabic has reported that the Israeli army’s Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, issued a strongly worded warning during a cabinet meeting, stating that his forces are extremely fatigued in the war against Iran and Hezbollah and are at risk of disintegration.
He criticized the government for failing to take necessary measures regarding the compulsory conscription of religious Jews (Haredim) and the extension of soldiers’ service periods, warning that if the situation continues, the army may soon lose its ability to carry out operations.
On the other hand, opposition leader Lapid and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz also expressed similar concerns, stating that Netanyahu is ignoring the Chief of Staff’s warnings about the army’s weaknesses.
They criticized the government, saying that while it dreams of reshaping the Middle East, it is at the same time turning a blind eye to the shortage of soldiers and mounting pressures within the army.
