Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a telephone conversation with Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the discussion covered bilateral relations, issues between Kabul and Washington, the regional situation, and recent developments between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Referring to the release of a detained American citizen in Afghanistan, Mr. Muttaqi said that Afghanistan is ready to fully resolve remaining issues with Washington through bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of relations between Afghanistan and the United States and expressed readiness for his country to continue playing a positive role in this regard.

At the end of the conversation, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan assured the Afghan Foreign Minister that, considering the new situation, special attention would be given to the safety of Afghans residing in the UAE.
