According to The Washington Post, a six-week period of conflict, coupled with mine deployment in the Strait of Hormuz and the strategic use of its geographical conditions, has led to a near-total suspension of maritime traffic through the route.

The report further states that even with an American naval blockade of ports in place, vessels passing through the area continue to face significant risks.

According to the newspaper, the Strait of Hormuz is a critical hub for global energy and trade, and any disruption to its security carries major economic and security consequences worldwide. It adds that Iran’s actions have heightened concerns over the stability of maritime transport.
