In an analytical report, Reuters stated that a year ago President Donald Trump predicted that high tariffs on imports would force America’s main economic rival, China, into submission.
However, analysts say his visit to China is taking place at a time when court rulings have weakened those hopes.
Sources said that Trump’s objectives are now limited to a few restricted trade deals involving beef, soybeans, and Boeing aircraft.
Moreover, he is attempting to secure China’s assistance in ending the unpopular war with Iran, a conflict that has damaged Trump’s domestic popularity, and for which he now needs Beijing’s diplomatic support to resolve the crisis.
