The head of the Norwegian Red Cross, Iftikhar Ali, met with the President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, and pledged continued support for and expansion of the Afghan Red Crescent’s healthcare programs.

The Afghan Red Crescent Society said the meeting focused on strengthening healthcare services and expanding joint humanitarian cooperation between the two organizations.

Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar stated that nearly 1,500 people with mental health conditions are currently receiving treatment at the society’s centers.

He described the Norwegian Red Cross’s assistance as highly effective and called for continued support to expand services for heart patients and other healthcare programs.

For his part, the President of the Norwegian Red Cross said the organization would continue supporting the Afghan Red Crescent Society’s healthcare programs and would work to further expand cooperation, particularly in the treatment of children born with congenital heart defects.
