During the republican regime in Afghanistan, the structures known as Arbakai, which were considered a source of public hatred in many areas due to their arbitrary behavior, oppression, and brutality, have now raised concerns about even more threats in the region following the establishment of the new regime in Afghanistan. Some of these militias have settled in Balochistan across the Durand Line to escape the fear of the people in Afghanistan. These wicked and unruly armed groups, equipped with some military tactics but devoid of any human or moral principles, have become a threat to the security and stability of the region.
In the unstable environment of Balochistan, these former militias have begun operating under the shadow of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and military regime. The Pakistani intelligence networks exploit the desperation and failed military experiences of these elements, using them as their unknown and illegal militias. These wicked militias, who have learned nothing but oppression and tyranny in their own regions, are now working in Balochistan as proxy forces of the military regime, oppressing innocent people, engaging in abductions, targeted killings, and directly participating in military operations to sustain the ruling system there.
The greatest harm caused by these hired militants is to the people of Balochistan, especially the Baloch. The Baloch people, who have long been under severe pressure for demanding their fundamental rights, are now facing the ruthless actions of these hired militias. These atrocities have now also caused concerns and reactions within Pakistan; prominent Baloch activist Dr. Mah Rang Baloch has confirmed the misdeeds of these former militias in her latest statement, stating that reports are coming in from various regions of Balochistan indicating that some individuals linked to the former Afghan army are involved in various military incursions and atrocities alongside Pakistani state forces. According to her, this has caused great concern and public outrage in the region.
The Arbakai Militias have settled in various parts of Balochistan, and their presence in a school in Mastung has also been confirmed by Maah Rang Baloch. Another major tragedy of the oppression of the common people by these arbaki militias is that the officials of the former republican regime have turned a blind eye to this sensitive issue. The silence of these former officials clearly indicates that they are, in fact, complicit in the crimes of these wicked Arbaki and in collaboration with the Pakistani military regime. As Maah Rang Baloch said, I want to draw the attention of the entire leadership of the former Afghan government to this sensitive issue. History sometimes presents challenges where silence also becomes a stance. It is a fact that the former officials have chosen silence on this matter, and this stance somewhat confirms that these elements have shed the blood of the people in Balochistan in exchange for a few rupees, privileges, or temporary refuge.
The expansion of the activities of the arbaki militias and their collaboration with the military regime leads to the shedding of innocent blood and perpetual instability in the region. This issue is worth the attention of other activists in the region, like Maah Rang Baloch, and the general public within Pakistan to raise their voices and stand against this dangerous intelligence plan. These hired elements, who are being used against the people of Balochistan today, will tomorrow destroy the stability of the entire region and the peace of the people forever, creating a sensitive situation that will require the intervention of governments and movements to control.
