US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran has lost much of its military strength over the past several months, saying the country’s nuclear and military facilities, particularly the Pickaxe Mountain site near Natanz, are under close US surveillance.
Trump said major strikes against Iran would be carried out on Monday and Tuesday, US local time, adding that the Pickaxe Mountain site near the Natanz uranium enrichment facility could also be targeted.
According to Reuters, Trump said, “We are closely monitoring Pickaxe Mountain. We see no activity there, and Iran’s nuclear situation is not good.”
Speaking about Iran’s military capabilities, Trump claimed the country was among the strongest military powers in the Middle East four months ago but has since suffered severe losses. He alleged that Iran’s naval forces had been destroyed, along with 159 vessels and 230 military aircraft.
He also claimed that most of the country’s air defense and radar systems had been destroyed and that all first- and second-tier military commanders had been killed.
Trump added that Iran no longer has the military capability it once possessed.
