According to the BBC, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that if Russia and Ukraine reach a peace agreement, Turkey is prepared to assume responsibility for leading and overseeing the maritime component of the security guarantees for Ukraine.
Fidan made the remarks after meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv, stating that providing Ukraine with land, air, and maritime security guarantees is considered one of the fundamental pillars of any potential peace agreement.
He added that Turkey shares a common understanding with its allies on this matter and that the necessary military planning is already underway.
