The ISNA news agency reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded to a US official’s acknowledgment of extensive damage to US naval facilities in Bahrain, saying that the American people should not pay the price for Israel’s wars.
The report added that Hong Kao, acting secretary of the US Navy, said Iranian forces had severely damaged US military facilities in Bahrain. Araghchi welcomed the remarks and claimed that Iranian forces had inflicted heavy damage on the US Fifth Fleet’s headquarters and other supporting military facilities.
Kao said the damage had also affected operations involving the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and created difficulties in finding a place for the carrier’s crew to stay.
