Reuters reported that the Pentagon is considering a plan to withdraw around 25,000 U.S. troops from Europe, which would reduce the number of U.S. troops stationed in Europe by roughly one third.
The plan is part of a broader six month review of the U.S. military presence in Europe and could also include significant reductions in U.S. military equipment deployed there.
Reuters reported that around 80,000 U.S. troops are currently stationed in Europe, with the proposal calling for approximately 25,000 of them to be withdrawn.
The Pentagon began the review in June and is expected to complete it by the end of the year.
