Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce said Minister Nooruddin Azizi held an online meeting with Richard Lindsay, the UK’s special representative for Afghanistan, to discuss expanding economic ties and engagement with the international community.
According to the ministry, Lindsay said Britain plans to gradually shift its cooperation with Afghanistan from humanitarian assistance toward economic cooperation.
He said Britain is working to expand trade with developing countries, including Afghanistan, by facilitating trade and reducing tariffs.
During the meeting, Minister Azizi outlined the economic and social measures implemented over the past five years. He cited increased exports and per capita income, efforts to combat the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics, the treatment of drug users, and support for people with disabilities.
