Spokesperson Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid announced that the Afghan government has allocated 100 million Afghanis to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the recent earthquake in the country’s eastern provinces.

At a press conference, Mr. Mujahid said that while Nangarhar and Laghman were affected, the hardest-hit districts are in Kunar province: Nurgal, Chawkay, Wata Pur, Chapa Dara, and Manogi.

According to official reports, Kunar province has reported 800 fatalities and 2,500 injuries, while Dara Noor district in Nangarhar has reported 12 deaths and 255 injuries so far.

Mr. Mujahid confirmed that all government authorities have been instructed to deploy resources to the affected areas to assist with burials, provide medical care for the injured, and support affected families.

He also urged Afghan citizens to provide food, clothing, and shelter to those in need, emphasizing their religious and national responsibility.

Rescue teams remain active in Nurgal, Mazar Dara, and surrounding areas, while officials warn that casualty figures may continue to rise.
