According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs, Afghanistan exported fresh and dried fruits worth 580 million Afghanis in the first six months of this year.

The shipments were sent to markets in India, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and several other countries.

Major export products included figs, pistachios, almonds, pine nuts, walnuts, raisins, grapes, apricots, pomegranates, apples, melons, watermelons, pears, and cherries.

Officials noted that the exports were carried out through both land ports and air corridors. They added that over the past four years, the Afghan government has hustled to boost trade by expanding railway networks, rebuilding key roads, and reopening air corridors with several countries.
