Al-Qaeda’s military wing, Jama’a Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, has carried out a deadly attack on Malian army forces and government militias in Burkina Faso, killing more than 100 soldiers.
In a statement released through its media outlet, the group claimed that 21 soldiers were captured alive and 33 vehicles were burned and destroyed during the operation.
The statement also reported the seizure of three military vehicles, two mortars, two RPG launchers, five DShK heavy machine guns, 174 Kalashnikov rifles, and a significant quantity of additional military equipment.
