Al-Qaeda’s Military Wing, Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, carried out an attack on a Burkinabe army base in Burkina Faso’s Soum province.
Al-Qaeda’s affiliated media outlet, Az-Zallaqa reported that the attackers captured a soldier alive and seized two Kalashnikov rifles along with other ammunition.
Meanwhile, the group ambushed Burkinabe forces on the Fergui–Kiya highway, seizing a PK machine gun, a Kalashnikov rifle, and two motorcycles.
