In Brussels, the capital of Belgium, farmers have launched large-scale protests against the European Union’s agricultural policies.

Reports note that hundreds of farmers took to the streets with their tractors and agricultural produce, blocking major city roads.

Protesters set fires in several locations and clashed with police.

Authorities have reportedly detained several farmers on charges of disturbing public order.

The protesters say that the EU’s new agricultural policies are causing them significant financial losses.
