Song Li, deputy permanent representative of China to the United Nations, has called on all sides to strengthen engagement and dialogue with Afghanistan, respect the outcomes of these efforts, and approach the process with patience and goodwill.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, Song called for the release of Afghanistan’s frozen assets, the lifting of unilateral sanctions, and the resumption of humanitarian assistance.
He said Afghanistan has made progress over the past five years in economic recovery, combating drug trafficking, and strengthening foreign relations. However, he said the country still faces challenges in some areas.
