Venezuelan government officials say that the death toll from the country’s two recent powerful earthquakes has risen to 920, while approximately 3,360 people have been injured.
Authorities said that rescue teams are still searching for survivors trapped beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings.
According to reports, around 250 buildings have either completely collapsed or suffered severe damage, including structures in the capital, Caracas.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquakes measured 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude and struck within seconds of each other.
Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Portugal have also announced the deployment of search-and-rescue teams to assist in the emergency response.
