Information obtained by Voice of Hindukush indicates that today’s dispute at the Shahzada Sarai money exchange market in Kabul occurred as a result of the construction of illegal stalls on the roof of the market.

According to sources, the dispute took place between the municipal district authorities and a number of money exchangers, and neither the intelligence services, nor the Ministry of Justice, nor any other security institution is involved in the matter.

Based on the information, the tension emerged after money exchangers illegally built numerous stalls on the roof of the Shahzada Sarai market. Over the past two days, the situation had reached a point where the risk of the market collapsing was evident.

Officials say that the Shahzada Sarai market was originally designed and constructed as a single-story building, but later, during the republic period, additional floors were illegally added through bribery.
