Fazal Mahmood Fazli, Former Head of the Administrative Office under the Fallen Republic: Foreign Powers Are No Solution to Afghanistan’s Problems; They Only Make Them Worse

Fazal Mahmood Fazli, who served as the head of the Administrative Office during the fallen republic, criticized the growing enthusiasm among opposition factions following rumors of a possible U.S. return to Bagram Airbase.

Fazli stressed that foreign involvement has never provided a solution to Afghanistan’s political or military challenges; instead, it has only deepened them.

He wrote, “The second generation of warlords from the 1980s and 1990s is now using Bagram as a pretext to call for the return of the United States. Yet, foreign powers are not the solution to any of our political or military challenges, they only worsen them.”

In recent days, widespread rumors about a possible U.S. return to Bagram have circulated, with members of the Resistance Front and other opposition groups expressing approval and even celebration of the reports.
