    Local sources report that a bomb blast struck a Pakistani military convoy in the Shawal area of North Waziristan yesterday, killing five soldiers, including a colonel.

    The Pakistani military has yet to release a statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, the group led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, which is engaged in armed resistance against the Pakistani government in the region, has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
