Mawlawi Abdul Haq Wathiq, head of Afghanistan’s intelligence agency, told Al Jazeera that both the government and the public are fully aware of the intentions of certain armed groups abroad seeking to destabilize the country. Addressing concerns over recent declarations by these groups, he stated, “The people have suffered their oppression and terror for twenty years and have consistently stood shoulder to shoulder with the Islamic Emirate against them.”

He highlighted that Afghanistan is now a stable and peaceful country, where citizens value security, and after decades of conflict, a strong central government stands firmly with strong public support.

Mawlawi Wathiq warned virtual expatriate groups that any efforts to undermine Afghanistan’s security are destined to fail and must not be repeated.

He stressed that those declaring war from abroad lack both legitimacy and any sound reasoning. “We will not allow Afghanistan’s security to be undermined or the country to revert to its previous state,” he said.

He also called on those opposing the Islamic Emirate to take advantage of the broad amnesty offered and cautioned them against becoming proxy fighters serving foreign agendas.
