The interim government has started distributing land for industrial parks in several provinces following a leadership directive.
The plan includes allocating 4,000 jiribs (800 hectares) around Kabul, 20,000 jiribs (4,000 hectares) in Kandahar, Nangarhar, and Balkh, 10,000 jiribs (2,000 hectares) in Kunduz, and 1,000 jiribs (200 hectares) for each of the remaining provinces.
Factory owners and manufacturers see this as a significant step in supporting local production and are urging swift implementation. However, some argue that land distribution alone is not enough. To ensure smooth industrial operations, challenges such as power shortages must be addressed.
Currently, around 5,000 factories operate across the country, employing more than 400,000 people. Industry stakeholders hope that land allocation and improved infrastructure will further accelerate industrial growth.
