An Indian investor, Lokesh Kumar, plans to invest approximately $200 million in building a steel smelting plant in Afghanistan’s Maidan Wardak province.

According to a statement from the province’s Information and Culture Department, an Indian investor, Kumar, and the head of Maihan Steel’s factory presented their investment plans during a meeting with Maidan Wardak Governor Qari Bakhtiar Ma’az.

Kumar stated that the plant will process raw iron to international standards, with a daily production capacity of 12.5 tons. The project is expected to create thousands of job opportunities.

Governor Ma’az welcomed the investment and assured that local authorities will provide all necessary support and facilities to ensure the project’s success.
