Iranian media reported that the country’s armed forces launched drone and missile strikes early Sunday targeting U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
According to the reports, the strikes targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the operation was carried out in response to recent U.S. attacks on Iran’s coastal areas.
The strikes came after the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had carried out overnight attacks on Iranian military targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM noted the operation was a response to an Iranian drone attack on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
