The first round of indirect negotiations between Iranian and U.S. representatives, held in Muscat with Omani mediation, concluded Saturday evening in a positive atmosphere, according to Tasnim News Agency. Both sides described the discussions as constructive and reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement.

The talks were attended by Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Steve Whitcoff, the U.S. President’s Special Representative for Middle Eastern Affairs. Discussions centered on key issues, including Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the lifting of what were described as unlawful sanctions imposed on Iran.

Araghchi said the negotiations were conducted in a calm and respectful atmosphere, without the use of inappropriate language. Whitcoff also characterized the talks as highly constructive in an interview with NBC News.

The second round of negotiations is scheduled to take place next Saturday in Muscat. Both parties have expressed hope that the dialogue will result in a mutually acceptable agreement based on mutual respect.
