Ebrahim Ghaffari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated that Iranian forces successfully foiled a U.S. search-and-rescue mission sent to recover the pilot of a downed American warplane over Iranian territory.
Fars News Agency, citing Ghaffari, reported that Iranian forces shot down two Black Hawk helicopters and one C-130 aircraft involved in the rescue operation.
He offered no details about the condition or whereabouts of the pilots and crew of the downed aircraft.
The report comes as the U.S. President stated today, Sunday that the remaining crew of the downed American aircraft had been rescued and were in stable condition.
