Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, the First Lady of Iraqi Kurdistan, strongly rejected rumors about the start of a ground war against Iran, stating that once again there are attempts to use the Kurdish people for the interests of global powers.

She said that the Kurds are not a hired army. She recalled that they were once encouraged to rise up against Saddam Hussein, but were later abandoned, and the Iraqi army crushed that uprising using helicopters and tanks.

She added that although the Kurds fought on the front lines in the war against ISIS, the promises made to them were not fulfilled.

She further stated that after a long struggle, the Kurds of Iraq have now managed to achieve a certain level of stability and a dignified life, and therefore it is unacceptable for them to be used as proxies by global powers.

Responding to reports about the United States pushing Iraqi Kurds into a war against Iran, she said that all sides should leave the Kurds alone, emphasizing that the Kurds are not hired soldiers.
