Indian media, citing diplomatic sources, have reported that Mawlawi Noor Ahmad Noor has been appointed by the Afghan government as the new Charge d’Affaires at the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi.

The report adds that Mr. Noor has already arrived in India and is expected to formally begin his duties soon.

India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, had earlier agreed with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi on accepting diplomats from the Islamic Emirate at the Afghan embassy in New Delhi.

Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry has not officially commented on the appointment of Mawlawi Noor Ahmad Noor as Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi.
