The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that security forces in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province have freed an orphaned girl from domestic captivity.

Ministry spokesperson Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani stated that the girl had been kept in chains inside a house by her relatives for several years and was in a severely distressed psychological and physical state.

He added that the girl’s stepbrother has been taken into custody in connection with the case, and investigations are ongoing.
