Najibullah Alikhel, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan during the fallen republic, reacted to reports that Afghan government opponents and former political figures were planning a meeting in Pakistan, allegedly organized by ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence agency. He emphasized that resolving Afghanistan’s challenges and healing the nation’s wounds can only be achieved through genuine intra-Afghan negotiations rooted in national and patriotic commitment.
Alikhel emphasized that the country’s stability cannot be secured under foreign agendas, noting, “Afghanistan’s bitter history and hard-earned experiences have shown that gatherings organized abroad based on external agendas will never lead our people to a political solution or lasting stability.”
The proposed meeting by Pakistan’s ISI has previously drawn widespread criticism, with many regarding it as a failed attempt to undermine Afghanistan’s stability.
