CBS has reported that U.S. officials say nearly 100 American service members have been injured in Iranian attacks on U.S. military bases since July 7.

U.S. Department of Defense spokesperson Sean Parnell said that most of the injured personnel suffered mild traumatic brain injuries, and approximately 96 percent have already returned to duty.

The exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran continues as Washington says its objective is to reduce Iran’s capability to carry out attacks in the Strait of Hormuz region. Tehran, however, describes its strikes on U.S. military bases across the Gulf region as retaliatory measures.

According to reports, four U.S. service members have also been killed in the Iranian attacks so far.
