The New York Times, citing informed sources, has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump intends to hold a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.
According to the report, Trump is also expected to host a trilateral summit with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following their one-on-one talks.
Sources indicated that the outlines of these plans were shared during a phone conversation between Trump and European leaders on Wednesday.
The report clarifies that the meetings will be limited strictly to Trump and his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, with no involvement from any European officials.
It is also noted that Trump’s special envoy traveled to Moscow on Wednesday, where he held discussions with President Putin concerning the ongoing war in Ukraine.
