Officials from Afghanistan’s Saffron Association report that 96 percent of the saffron produced in Herat province is exported to global markets.

According to the association’s deputy head, Sayed Abdul Wahid Sadat, the current market price for one kilogram of saffron within the country has reached 110,000 Afghanis.
