The head of independent investigations into Afghanistan, Haddon-Cave, has confirmed that inquiries into alleged war crimes committed by British forces in the country are still ongoing. The findings will be made public once the investigation is complete.

He has called on individuals with relevant information to come forward, expressing gratitude to those who have already shared details. “We appreciate those who have provided us with information so far and encourage others to do the same,” he said.

To protect witnesses, their testimonies are being heard in private sessions to ensure their identities remain confidential. Haddon-Cave emphasized, “No one has the right to disclose witness identities or release documents that could lead to their identification.”

Previously, a former senior British police officer criticized the three-year delay in the investigation, arguing that it had caused missed opportunities and made it harder for investigators to access crucial evidence.
