The Panjshir provincial media office announced that 6,458 carats of freshly mined emeralds from the province were sold for $107,559 in a recent auction held today.
Sources reported that the open auction, attended by traders from across the country, was held under the supervision of the Mine Monitoring Committee.
In recent years, Panjshir’s emerald mines have been managed transparently and in strict accordance with standardized procedures, with all revenue deposited directly into the state treasury.
