Spokesperson of Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, dismissed rumors suggesting that Pakistan had attempted to annex Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor.
Addressing media in Islamabad, Khan strongly affirmed that Wakhan is an integral part of Afghanistan’s territory and we respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement comes after recent widespread social media rumors regarding the Wakhan Corridor, which the Afghan government strongly denied. Afghan authorities assured the public that not an inch of the country’s land would be compromised and warned of a strong response to any such attempts.
