The Pakistani Taliban has announced that the deadline it had given to Pakistani military-owned corporations has expired. In a statement, Pakistani Taliban’s leadership said that, from now on, attacks will not be limited to security agencies and personnel but will also target the commercial and economic authorities affiliated with the Pakistani military, with the aim of weakening them economically and “bringing an end to their tyranny.”
The statement noted that shopkeepers had earlier been given a two-month deadline to sell off military-linked products and replace them with alternative goods in order to avoid financial losses.
According to the group, its forces have now been ordered to destroy all military-related products wherever they are found—either by burning or through any other means. “Likewise, any vehicles transporting these goods must also be set ablaze,” the statement added.
The Pakistani Taliban listed several examples of military-affiliated corporations, including the National Logistics Cell (NLC), Frontier Works Organization (FWO), Fauji Cement, Askari Bank, Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), Askari Cement, Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), Fauji Foundation, Fauji Foods, Askari Fuels, and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
