The Ministry of Public Works reported that more than 135,494 metric tons of goods were transported via Afghanistan’s railway network between November 7 and 13.
Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas noted that most shipments were routed through the Hairatan, Torghundi, Aqina, and Herat–Khaf ports.
He said that 588 tons of the shipments were exports, mainly consisting of dried fruits and pomegranate juice.
Haqshenas added that the ministry is diligently working to improve conditions to facilitate greater volumes of rail transport in the future.
