Lebanese media outlet An-Nahar has reported that the sixth round of direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel began today in Rome, the capital of Italy.

According to sources, the talks are being held under U.S. supervision as part of implementing the signed framework agreement. The discussions aim to facilitate the disarmament of Hezbollah, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese National Army in the areas vacated by Israeli troops.

Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed hope that the negotiations would ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces. He also said that during his planned meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in the last week of July, he would urge Washington to pressure Tel Aviv to implement the agreement.
