According to international media reports, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has held separate meetings in the city of El Alamein with Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the head of Libya’s National Army, Khalifa Haftar.
Sources state that these meetings were conducted amid rising tensions between Sudan and Libya due to mutual accusations.
According to available information, the meetings indicate Egypt’s attempt to play a mediating role in addressing regional conflicts, particularly in managing disputes surrounding the tri-border area, and to prevent potential regional violence.
It is worth noting that the tri-border area shared by Egypt, Sudan, and Libya holds significant strategic importance and has become a significant point for conflict due to illegal migration, smuggling, and natural resources.
