Zakir Jalali, the third political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the agreement reached in Doha between Afghanistan and Pakistani military regime to cease clashes is a welcome development. According to him, from the beginning, Afghanistan’s position was based on dialogue and understanding, which was reiterated in the presence of mediators in Doha.
Mr. Jalali emphasized that Afghanistan had never violated another country’s sovereignty; rather, it was Pakistani military regime that breached Afghan airspace, which was the primary cause of the clashes.
He added that what has been shared so far from the contents of the agreement, in the presence of Qatar and Turkey, indicates a diplomatic victory for Afghanistan’s negotiating team.
He concluded that everyone should be confident that the delegation, led by the Minister of National Defense, firmly defended Afghanistan’s principled and historical position at the negotiation table, with precise use of language to ensure that no one misinterprets or misrepresents Afghanistan’s stance.
