US President Donald Trump has strongly criticized Pope Leo, the leader of the world’s Catholics, calling him weak on crime prevention and foreign policy issues.

According to CNN, Trump claimed that the Catholic Church selected Pope Leo primarily because he is American and believed he could help manage relations with his administration.

He also commented on Pope Leo’s brother, Louis, stating that he respects him more than the Pope, as Louis is a supporter of the MAGA movement.

Trump further criticized Pope Leo for hard-left positions regarding Iran’s nuclear program and potential US military action against Venezuela.

He urged the Pope to focus on religious responsibilities rather than political matters and to avoid actions he said were damaging the Church.

Pope Leo had previously called attacks on Iran and Lebanon illegal, adding that attempts to justify such wars on religious grounds are unacceptable.
