According to reports, the military wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) officially began handing over its weapons to the Turkish government during a ceremony held today (Friday).
An Al-Mayadeen correspondent reported that a PKK unit formally surrendered its weapons a short while ago.
It was stated that the disarmament ceremony took place in Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province in the presence of a Turkish delegation.
The PKK has been engaged in armed resistance against the Turkish government since 1984, fighting for Kurdish rights in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria.
Notably, the group has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, Iraq, and the United States.
