The U.S. Department of State announced on Monday that it has officially designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), particularly its suicide-style attack unit “Majeed Brigade,” as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
According to the State Department, this designation is a significant legal and political step aimed at weakening the group’s financial resources, international support, and logistical capabilities.
This development comes as Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has visited the United States twice in the past three months.
Analysts believe the move may be part of expanded security cooperation between Washington and Islamabad, particularly against groups that Pakistan considers major internal security threats.
