U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Panama on Sunday for his first official international visit, amid rising tensions over control of the Panama Canal.
The visit follows recent remarks by President Donald Trump, who suggested that the U.S. should reclaim its stake in the canal and indicated that military action remains an option as well.
During his visit, Rubio is set to tour the Panama Canal and meet with the country’s president to discuss bilateral relations and regional security concerns.
