Al Jazeera reported that the United States has rejected a proposal by Israeli officials to expel Palestinians from Gaza and urged Washington to support the forced displacement of the territory’s residents.

The U.S. State Department said Washington remains committed to President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which states that no one will be forced to leave Gaza and that those who choose to leave will have the right to return.

The statement came after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that expelling Palestinians from Gaza was the only solution to the crisis. He added that Israel was prepared to expel Palestinians from Gaza “by sea, by air and by any means possible.”

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also backed Katz’s remarks and called for the forced displacement of Palestinians.

In addition to the United States, several Arab countries have strongly rejected any attempt to expel Palestinians from Gaza.
